BE 12.5 SBS Premium - Format not available for LTO media

Hello board,

I wish to format some new LTO3 data cartridges, but the Format option is greyed out.

The only options available are Quick Erase & Long Erase.

I set Long Erase running, but this has so far taken 1.5 hours on 1 cartridge - I have 12 to do!!!!!!

Sure I'll attempt a Quick Erase when the pending cancellation of the Long erase completes.

Hopefully that will go through reasonably quickly.

Can anyone shed any light as to why the Format option would be unavailable?

LTO (and most modern tape technologies) do not need or support the "format" function so it is grayed out.  If the drive supports it, it would be available.

Long erase will take a few hours.  Quick erase should take a few minutes.
