BE 12.5 or 2010 ?

Hi Forum,

we're in the upgrade process of our AD environment to Windows 2008 R2 64Bit.
However, we'd like to leave our dedicated Backup Exec Service Servers on Windows 2003 SP2.
Does BE 12.5 supporting backup from that Win2003 Srv. to remote Win2008R2 client ???
If not, will BE2010 support this ?
Our clients are most typical just File Shares but also a few SQL 2007 servers.

Thanks for your feedback in advance.

Cheers

Hi Wolfgang,

Backup Exec 12.5 will support an agent installation on your Win2K8 R2 server.
In this case, it will do, but going forward, there isn't much mention of support for applications like Exchange 2010 etc.
So keep BEWS 2010 at the back of your mind for upgrade purposes as, and when you can do that.
My suggestion would be to install the latest version which is due out next week on 1st February 2010, if you are able too.

Laters!
