BE 2010R3 Agent Install - Is a Reboot Required?

seag33k

The documentation says that a reboot is not required for the install of the BE agent if you do not select the Open File Option.  One of my push installs stated it needed a reboot.  I restarted the BE Agent service on that machine and I am able to browse that server from our Media server.  Is the reboot truely required in this senario?

Thanks,

Eric

If the remote server has AOFO loaded previously, then it is safer to reboot the machine to remove VSP.  VSO is kernel mode so it will need a re-boot to remove it.

ALso if enabling or updating Client Side Dedup configs then reboots may be needed.
