Hi guys,
i have BE 2012 and a tape drive HP LTO Ultrium-4. During the backup job the tape is not being compressed so now I have to use more tapes than with BE 2010.
i did run a test with HP support using HP Library and Tape Tools and got the status under "Data Compression" set to "YES" but when i run a job with compression setting enabled in BE the status changes to "NO". The "Data Compression Test" with this tool was succesful (status - passed ). I have SP1a installed and HF 189571 180964 194470
and ideas what could cuse this issue ?
Many thanks
regards
L.

i have this HF installed, this should solve this issue, not sure whether changing the settings will change something .... : /
thank you

Try choosing only hardware compression if the backup job properties...also run tracer utility per this KB ~ http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH50960

Hi Lilee,
i have the same problem with my BE2012.
The solution is quiet simply but very annoying. After applying the related hotfix 189571 everthing works fine.
After applying the next hotfix the problem comes back. Then you have to apply the hotfix 189571 again...
Congratulations Symantec, very good!!!
