BE 8.6 hanging while running.

I've been having this problem the last two days. The backup process will start as scheduled, and run, backing up our Exchange Mailboxes, Information Store, and two remote drives, before hanging in the Running State when it should begin backing up the two local drives and the system state. We are running BE 8.6 on Windows 2000 Server. There are no errors in the Event or Job Logs, and I can't cancel the job. (I select the Cancel option, and I get a message about it being queued, but the job never cancels and the option is then greyed out on the menu.) The symptoms are similar to the problem described here - http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191211.htm - except I don't know what other RSM-aware application would be using the media device. On our Management Console, there is nothing under Remote Storage/Media Pools/Backup/. Should there be something there? We are using a Compaq AIT 50 Tape Drive. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

In case anyone ever stumbles across the same problem, I found the solution here ( http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/255242.htm ). It seems I had to turn off IDR to get it to work. This might have happened as a result of the latest round of MS patches. It may be time to look at upgrading to a new version...

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: I didn't turn off IDR. It just doesn't create a .DR file. Allegedly, IDR still works.
