Hi all. There are 5-10 user workstations, need to backup different information from them.Preferably in a single console with BE2012. It also need to have an opportunity to restore all of the system from an image (System Recovery Desktop i think). So the question ,need the link where customer can see, that he can manages backup from the one media server. The customer want to see, that there is no need to buy BE server for each  area, and he can manage backups in different areas from the single console.

Hi

I am not sure what exactly your cleint demand is

It is clear and obvious from above that you want to protect 5-10 Workstation but would like to Image level backup so Backup Exec doesn't perform image level backup but SSR does so what are your option when SSR is considered

With SSR you will be able to backup only your desktop workstations
The backups of these machines can be managed and overlooked from one server and for that you will need to add each machine to the SSR console
SSR does not provide a built in function to do a remote restore ,so to restore locally use the link below
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH87092

If you need to do remote restore then SSR provides a feature know as lightsout restore
With lightsout restore you can boot the server remotly in the Symantec Recovery Disk
But to connect to the machine remotly the machine should have hardware devices like DRAC or RILO cards,These cards enable you to access a machine remotly
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH154188

Hope that helps

Thanks

Hi

If it is Backup exec 2012 then it will be a single media server but then it would do the file level backup of the workstation but not the image level backup like SSR in that case it will be a single Media server concept

So if you are using BE 2012 then you would be doing SDR turned on backup for all those workstation were you will have single media server and backup can run either to tape or disk

Thanks
