Examples below:
Win 2008 R2:
Backed up 36 System State components
Processed 17,570,860,665 bytes in 20 minutes and 38 seconds.
Throughput rate: 812 MB/min
Compression Type: Hardware
Win 2008 (not r2):
Backed up 22 System State components
Processed 25,626,984,059 bytes in 37 minutes and 51 seconds.
Throughput rate: 646 MB/min
Compression Type: Hardware
Win 2012 (Midia server as well):
Backed up 26 System State components
Processed 17,672,473,254 bytes in 30 minutes and 49 seconds.
Throughput rate: 547 MB/min
Compression Type: Hardware
This one is for Win 2008 C drive, though in general this server is struggling with slow throughput:
Backed up 321476 files in 32591 directories.
Processed 27,592,152,245 bytes in 34 minutes and 23 seconds.
Throughput rate: 765 MB/min
Compression Type: Hardware

Hi,
Is there an AV installed on that server? If so, make sure it isn't scanning/blocking beremote.exe, and if so, put in an exclusion for it.
Also make sure that the NIC is set to the fastest speed possible, ie. 1000MB FULL.
Thanks!

Hi Craig,
We are running McAfee VSE and have excluded BE paths and executables on all servers.
This is the media server backing up it's E drive:
Backed up 16575 files in 272 directories.
Processed 106807078766 bytes in 24 minutes and 36 seconds.
Throughput rate: 4141 MB/min
Compression Type: Hardware
Verification speeds are also good on all resources.

...so is this a local backup of the System State that is slow, or a remote server?
Thanks!

Try isolating the backups further, i.e. if SDR enabled backup, disable SDR and check the backup throughput. If Active Directory GRT is enabled, uncheck it and check again.
Apply this MS Hotfix as well on the affected servers and recheck - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979612

Both local and remote servers. One server in general is just plain slow. It was the ex BE media server. BE is uninstalled from that computer and the 2014 agent is installed on it. If anything it might have performed better with the old agent.

SDR is disabled, GRT is enabled I dont' wish to disable it at this moment.
We don't have the hotfix installed at the moment and it only applied to 2008 servers which 2 servers are affected but isn't listed as supported on 2012 which our BE media server is also has the slow speeds.

It's not necessary for the cause to be the same for all affected servers with slow system state backups. As mentioned earlier, it becomes easier if one tries to isolate it one by one.
Install the HF for the Win 2008 servers and check. For the Win 2012 server, you can manually run the netsh commands to disable TCP Chimney, RSS etc.
