BE9.1 device goes offline when changing tapes in the library

After changing tapes in the robotic library IBM4560 SLX the next time a job is performed in Backup Exec 9.1 the library will appear offline in the devices tab. It doesn't matter if the job is a backup or erase or inventory.

Restarting the services will fix the problem and everything will run as expected.....until the next time the tapes are changed the following day.

The driver for the library is Overland Storage v1.0.3.0 which I believe is the latest version.

The only thing that has changed recently is the applying of all the hotfixes and service packs from the veritas update list.

David, so this was all working, then you applied the patches and it stopped working? Or did it never work?

Also, when you change your tapes, are you removing the entire tray, or are you using the mail slot?

I had a problem with people over-riding the backupexec device lock on the tabe library, and then it would no longer respond to backupexec.

Try manually running the 'unlock' and 'lock' on backupexec and see if you have any success.

Cheers.

Ian this was working fine before.

Mail slot is not being used ar all, the entire tray is being removed.

Already running a manual unlock in backupexec.

Hello,

We suggest you to change the tapes using export and import utility:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/271482
http://library.veritas.com/docs/271478

Ensure that the firmware on the device is up-todate.
Thank You.
