BEWS SBS 12.5 - Offline Media problem

Hi

2 External Hard drives have been configured with the drive letters X and Z respectively, in the same Device Pool, and Media Set.

Job configured to run with All Devices and the same Media Set.

My client swaps the External HDD's over every Monday, creating a rolling week backups.

The problem is, everytime the device is swapped the first job always fails saying the device is offline - I have to manually go in and bring the device online. Jobs run fine after that, all week, until it's swapped again.

Is there anyway to have this fully automatic so I dont have to keep bringing each device online?

Thanks

What kind of backup-to-disk devices are you using for these external hard drives? I'm guessing you are using standard B2D folders right? The way you want to go is removable b2d folders. You'll need to delete the devices and recreate them as removable ones (easiest way is using the device configuration wizard). Then add them to your device pool and point your backups to the device pool.

The difference is that a removable b2d device will detect automatically when it's offline or not. You will not need to manually make it online.

Ah, thank you. I had created them as normal B2D folders.

I will recreate them as Removeable and hopefully that will solve this issue.

Many thanks!
