BackUP Exec 11d freezes server

Hallo everyone,

I've got still a problem with BackUP Exec 11d SP1.

It's a Windows 2003 Server R 2 SP2 on a SuperMicro Board X7DB8+ with an onboard SCSI Controller from
Adaptec (AIC-7902) U320. The streamer is a Tandberg Data LTO-1 Storage Loader.
The driver for the Adaptec Controller is the newest one from there web site. The drivers for the storage loaders are from Symantec.

Now the problem:

The backup job starts correct, then after a certain time the system hang. No input from keyboard is possible.
You just restart the computer with the reset button.

I now stopped any backup services...now the server is still working and working an so on.

Could anybody help me??

Thanks

Ingo

P.S.: The firmware from the Tandberg Data LTO-1 storage loader is the newest one!

This is  a hardware problem with motherboard and timeing issue.
I have the solution its in the Motherboard BIOS

I dont have it on me right now but can get it 4/5.

Go into System Board BIOS and change the following:

Set PCI-e I/O Performance setting in the BIOS to “Coalesce”:

Advanced -> PCI Configuration -> PCI-e I/O Performance

Hi STeve,

thanks for your answers.

The supermicro support from nederland here in Europs told me the same solution:

This is the answer:

BIOS menu \PCI Configuration \ PCI-E I/O performance zum Coalesce
\ ROM Scan Ordering zum ADDON

I also find a setting problem in the adaptec bios:

This option should be disabled

"Start unit request failed" => Setting auf No

I will just try and will hope that will still work.
