Backing Up a Adaptec Snap using BE11

Can anyone know how to backup an Adaptec Snap Server using BackupExec 11D ? I cannot see how I could install an agent, as the NAS box doesn't really have an OS to install the agent into.

Hi Nik

Please advise which Snap server you are using as different Snap servers support differet agent versions?
Normally we use SSH to setup the agent on the Snap server...

1.Download an SSH client and install it in Windows (http://www.ssh.com/support/downloads/secureshellwks/non-commercial.html).
2.Copy the linux agent from the BExec 11d media kit to one of the shares on the snap server. 3.You then need to log into the Snap server and under the server admin tab you need to enable SSH.
4.Log into the Snap server from your ssh client you installed on your Windows system.
5.Locate the client and install it on the snap server. During installation you need to ensure that you chose linux kernel 2.4 as the Guardian OS is based on that linux platform.

Not sure whether you familiar with linux and its commands as you need to know linux to install the agent. if not let me know, maybe I can help further...

Thanks for the reply.

In step 2, when I click on the link, I goto the Windows 98 Agent download page.

I've managed to find the agent )I think) from http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/279329.htm which I've downloaded an copied to a share. I've enabled SSH and have connect to the server, but I cannot see how to install the agent (if it's coorect anyway).

ATM, I am backing the NAS box up as Windows shares, and ignoring the warning messages. I can restore OK (I've just tested it).
