Backing up SQL Server 2005 Express Edition ???

Hello I have Backup Exec 12.5 and today I installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for some imaging database. 

I would like to utilize my back up softare and tape system. Can i back up the databases using 12.5 or do I need to purchase the SQL agent to make this happen.

Hi

As far as Microsoft SQL 2005 databae consern for online SQL database backup, SQL agent license is required.

Another solution is to stop SQL services and take cold / offline backup but this will required the down time

As Abhijit noted, a SQL license is required to backup the SQL databases while they are online.  Another option would be to use SQL to perform a backup to flat file, then use Backup Exec to backup the flat file.
