Backing up a NAS drive w/BE 12.0

Brian_Hart_2

Is it possible to backup a NAS drive on the network using Symantec Backup Exec 12.0?  And, if so, what is the procedure?  Does the drive have to be mapped on the Server where BE is installed?

Thanks in advance,

Brian Hart

Remote agent cannot be installed on a NAS device but still you take a backup by adding the IP address

of the NAS in the user defined selection of Backup Exec. You can also target(save) backups on the

NAS device. Make sure you add the Backup Exec Service Account in the NAS device and give it

full permission.

Check BE12.0 SCL for compatibility of NAS. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH56442

You cannot backup mapped drives.  You would need to create a User Defined Share (using either IP\Share or UNC\Share)

And even though you cannot install the RAWS on the NAS, you still need to purchase and install a serial on the media server

Pretty much what Amol and I already said, right?
