Backing up an Exchange 2003 Server

I'm attempting to backup my exchange 2003 server. However, when I try to check off "Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes" under the server in the selection window, Veritas just freezes. I can select folders to back up on that same server. It's just the exchange data that I cannot check. Is Veritas 9.1 capable of backing up Exchange 2003? I used this same version of Veritas to backup our Exchange 5.5 server. I do have an exchange agent serial number installed as well. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Have you purchased a separate serial number for Exchange 2003?

Can you select the information store and public folders?

Install SP4a and reinstall remote agent (if exchange is remote):

Thanks!

I actually rebooted the exchange 2003 server last night and after the reboot was able to configure the backups to pull the mailboxes. However, I am still using the serial number that I used for the Exchange 5.5 server. Should I have to get a new serial number to backup the Exchange 2003 server even though I'm still only backing up 1 exchange server? The 5.5 server has been decomissioned.

Hello,

Yes, in backup exec 9.1, there was a different license n umber for Exchange 5.5 and a different one for Exchange 2000 and 2003. Refer to the link below that explains on how to find this difference:

How to differentiate between Backup Exec Agent for Exchange 5.5, Exchange 2000, and Exchange 2003 in Backup Exec for Windows Servers 8.x, 9.x, and 10.x
