Backing up single vhd from hyper-v backup

Jeroen_H_
Not applicable

Hi,

As the title says, we are looking for a way to backup individual vhd(x) files from Hyper-V backups. Right now we have several virtual servers on a hyper-v host, and we wish to increase the backup of the data disks. I have found that this is possible in a cluster environment, but can anyone tell me if this is possible in a "standalone" hyper-v? Thank you

Kind regards,

Jeroen H.

No. This is not possible if you are backing up the VM's as VM's. You can only select the VHD's if you are backing up the VM's add if they are physical machines

Either for a standlone or a clustered host, we don't recommend backing up individual VHDs. Supported method is to backup the entire VM (all the VHDs of the VM) itself as this results in a consistent backup.
