Backp Exec

We recently replaced our DAT 20/40 drive with a DLT VX160. Since then, the backup jobs are not completing properly. The backup runs and even ejects the tape upon completion. However in "job status" the job is still "running".
At this point, I have to manually cancel the job so it will reschedule and run again at night. Any ideas?

Hello,

Please check if there are any alerts pending in the Alerts tab?
Also, check the event logs to verify if there are any errors created during that backup job.
What type of backup you are taking ?
Is it a local backup or remote backup ?
As a test, try taking backup on a Backup to Disk folder and check if the status shows "running".

Regards

This is the alert I have received since the device change. The job failed with the following error: The backup of the item is bad. I have verified that I am able to restore from these jobs even with this error.
Is it possible to send you the event log?
Let me know.

Hello,

Please refer to the following article :

http://support.veritas.com/docs/261457

Also you can copy paste the errors in the post. So that we can have a look at them.

I did the failed jobs thing to 0. We'll se if that does anything.

Here is a look at the event log. Look at the oldest item in the log. It refers to sql hanging. Is this the BE SQL or what? We don't have a SQL server otherwise.

If there are prompts to remove the media from the drive it could be caused by one of 2 things:
1) You have the job set to eject the media but for some reason your tape device is not sending a flag confirming the tape has popped out. In this situation, Backup Exec doesn't know the tape is out and prompts you to remove it before the job will complete.
2) A previous job is pending some operation (spanning to an additional tape or verifying) and wants you to remove the existing tape in the drive for you to insert the one Backup Exec is looking for.

Hi,

the alerts can be configured to be automatically be responded to. Heres a document that can be of help:

How to configure Backup Exec 9.x and 10.x for Windows Servers to respond to alerts automatically

http://support.veritas.com/docs/254685

Hope it helps!
