Backup 2 disk 2 tape

I'm on the verge of going with some type of direct attached storage (disk subsystem) for my main backups. I will use this in parallel with an LTO drive to backup data later to tape. Currently if I do this using the B2Disk feature in BackupExec, this means the backups that go to tape will be in a format that later cannot be read directly from tape. In otherwords, the goal is to be able to RESTORE at any point from either tape or disk. The way I see it now, If I had to restore from tape, I would only be restoring the B2D file. I would not be able to restore one file from tape. I would have to restore the whole B2D file first then do a restore on the restored file! MAJOR issue. Anybody solved this?

1) create your backup-2-disk job

2) submit it "on hold" (make sure its in the job monitur with status hold or scheduled)

3) go to job setup and create a "new backup data copy job" and select "duplicate backup sets following a job"

in the duplicate job properties select your waiting b-2-d job as source.

the duplicate-2-tape job will start when your b-2-d is finished.

Hello,

To run a duplicate job (copy on B2D and also a duplicate on tape) please take note of the following document which explains more about this.
