Backup DB maintenance fails

I have a client who's backup exec. 2012 daily DB maintenance fails.

They are only up to SP2 and from what I have read this gets fixed I think in SP3 and SP4 is out.

Is it as simple as applying the service pack 4?

I have also read that if you truncate the audit log table that fixes it.   http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH201551

So if I apply SP4 should it be fixed or should I just follow the above audit log table fix?

After applying SP4, you would still need to truncate the audit log table

I would recommend to truncate the audit log table first and then apply SP4. Many a times, the patch install fails when DB has reached the 4GB cap. So its better to reduce the DB size first and then update.
