Hi,
We have been using Backup Exec 10d (10.1 Revision 5629) for over 3 years. Over a long period of time we have had intermiitent input/output Backup Exec error messages, such as:
Storage device "QUANTUM 1" reported an error on a request to read data from media.
Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
V-79-57344-33992 - The backup storage device has failed.
Over the last few months, we have changed the external Quantum DLT-V4 SCSI tape drive, upgraded the Adaptec 29160 SCSI card to a 29320 SCSI card, changed the SCSI cable and terminators and Quantum tapes. I also slowed down the transfer rate in the SCSI BIOS.
The backups were fine for a few weeks, we then started to get the same i/o error messages again. At the moment we are using an external hard disk drive for our daily backups, until we resolve the issue with Backup Exec, the Quantum tape frive, the 29320 scsi card and cables.
