Backup Exec 10d compress problem

Hi

I have Backup exec 10d with Agent for Exchange, Agent for SQL, Remote agent. Autoloader with 4 slots device lto3 400/800

My problem is that I have 500GB data, and 300GB of it its word excel and  powerpoint docs. the backup job need 2 tapes on on e its writes 400gb and on the other it writes 100GB.

The compress option id selected.

Any idea why its not compressing?

Hi Shay,

Some data is compressed already, and won't be compressed again. In this case, it's kind of the best you can get.
Are there any folders/files you could leave off to see if you can fit onto 1 tape if that is what you require?

If it only writes 400GB to the first tape, sounds like Compression is not Enabled.   From the Devices tab, right click the tape drive and verify that "enable hardware compression" is selected

Also, you can try software compression to see if that helps any
