Backup Exec 11d SP3 New drive slow

We have an exabyte magnum 224 autoloader.  The drive went out on it.  We replaced the drive with an RMA'd one.  They are the exact same model numbers and firmware revisions, but now we have went form 500-700 MB/min down to 40 MB/min during backups using symantec.

Everything in the system is exactly the same as it was except for the new drive.

We ran live update and windows update, no change, speed is still very slow.

Any help, even a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks.

check the stats for the drive.  do you have lots of write errors?

from tools]options\media management

make sure that both single block options are NOT selected

what are the settings for block size/buffer size/ number of buffers?

have you run a pass or two of the drive mfg diagnostics against it?
