Backup Exec 12.5 CASO having to run unlock jobs from all SSO servers on an MSL4048

Hi,

I have an issue around where I have a customer that has the following configuration

Backup Exec 12.5 CASO

and multiple SSO servers

MSL4048 Fibre attached library with two LTO 4 drives.

I have checked the HCL for 12.5 and there is a note against the MSL4048 FC library as shown below

In a shared storage option (SSO) environment, ALL Backup Exec servers are required to run an UNLOCK job prior to running an import job or export job or opening

the mail slot.

Does anyone know an easy way to do this instead of having to setup multiple unlock jobs on each server.

Hi,

If you have a set time when you will be changing tapes, you can look at scheduling the unlock job to run say 30 minutes before you change tapes.
Unfortunately BEWS maintains a lock on a device drive, and the only way to "let go" is to run the unlock command.
