Backup Exec 2010 R2: Error during installation

Hi all!

When installing BE2010 Small Business everything runs fine until the main BE installation which fails with error message: Object Reference not set to an instance of an object

I already reinstalled .Net 3.5 and rebooted the system several times.

System is Windows SBS 2003 SP1 (32 bit) (Xeon 3.4GHz, 3.5GB RAM, 33GB free HDD space on C:).

Installation source is on the local HDD. BE will only backup the local machine to LTO tape.

Any suggestions?

The KB article took me a few steps further. The installation ran but then stopped with error message "Could not access network location \IDR\Data".

I found KB article TECH124913, but none of the mentioned products was installed before (only BE 9, which I previously uninstalled manually).

So i used windows installer cleanup utility to remove the dead BE 9 entries in the installer database. After that the installation completed successfully.
