Backup Exec 2010 R2 No Deduplication Folder Option

COPCP
Level 2

I just upgraded from 2010 to 2010 R2 and wanted to try out the deduplication option.  It has been installed, but I do not see the option in the devices list.  Is there a setup step that I may have missed?

Did you install BackupExec on a 32bit OS, or on Windows 64bit OS?  I wonder if the OS type makes a difference if the feature is available or not.  it's supported ONLY on a 64bit OS.

I am running Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2.

Hello

Remove the dedup option from Tools->Install options and license key and then reinstall the option.

During this process the services should restart.

You will not see anything under devices tab. You need to get to "Configure device assistant" and create a Deduplication folder. Once created, you will be able to target your jobs to this new device, like you would do with backup to disk folder or robotic library.

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.

Thanks
