Hi There!

I have a backup to Tape that occurs nightly, and also a backup to disk which occurs a little later in the night as well.

I am trying to work out how I can cleanup old backups from the B2D folder? Ideally I want 7 Days on Disk and no more.

If someone could let me know that would be excellent.

Secondly, I would really like a weekly report emailed to me which gives me a nice simple status on what jobs have run this week and which ones have failed?

Go to Tools ---> Options ----> Media management and select Overwrite recycleable media in the targeted media set before scratch

Set the OPP of the media for your disk backup to 6 days.

For the report, you can use the Job Summary Report.  See the procedure below to schedule it.

Hi There!

We have our overall system set to overwrite protection - None, as I want ANY media to be overwritten with tonights backup, for TAPE. I want that to continue, I just want to set the backup to disk to 6 days. Will that work with your method?

I think that means it would need to be configured by job rather than in options right?

How after making that change can I get it to "clean" the old backups?

No.  Once you have set the OPL to None, any OPP setting does not apply.  You have to set the OPL to at least Partial for the OPP setting to work.  You can set your tape OPP setting to a short period if you want to.

To add to what pkh said, start you disk based jobs as Overwrite Only and set the media set Append Period to None.

Hi There!

OK, so that is now set, how do I get it to clean up the old jobs?

In my B2D Folder I have the main BKF Files from today, and then about 80 IMG0000xx folders which contain .bin files (and some other stuff like logs), totalling about 10GB each. I want to get rid of those, but presume I can't just select them and delete them.

These should get overwritten when their OPP expires.
