Backup Exec 2012 Browse failure

Hi all,

I'm new to using Backup Exec 2012 and am in the process of trying to edit/create a Backup job

I'm on a Read only domain controller where I had Backup Exec installed before it was Read only as per required

While on the Home tab, going to create a backup I get straight away

Browse Failure

Failure to browse to 'xxxx.xxx.xxx'

Failed to log on to Microsoft Windows.

Ensure that your logon credentials are correctly entered and that they meet the following minmum:

- member of Backup operators group

- have the log on as batch job privelege

The acutal account I've used to login is a domain account and was used for BackupExec 2010

My question is is that when it looks at the logon account when accessing the server where does it see it as having those priveleges?

As mentioned you need to verify that the service account has the appropriate rights.... here are a few mor docs for you to review..

 Additionally be sure that the service account has an active, unique and unhidden mailbox.

This has got nothing to do with browse failed issue but will be more valuable in exchange GRT backup and restore issue. Hope that helps Thanks

i went to the sites and read this

For Windows Vista/2008 and later, check that the Backup Exec Logon Account which is used for backups or restores has the right to  "Logon as a batch job". By default, this policy is applied to Administrators and the Backup Operators group. This user right is defined in the Default Domain Controller Group Policy object (GPO) and in the local security policy of workstations and servers and it allows a user to be logged on by means of a batch-queue facility.
 

The user account is already part of the Administrators on the domain controller so I don't understand why it shouldn't already work. If I still need to apply the "Logon as a batch job" right I need to sort out as to why it's greyed out as many sources says its something go to do with the GPO..

I have also tried this on a demoted domain controller where in the Log on as a batch job the admin account I'm using is already in there

-It's also an admin to the domain controller, even tried to change it to Backup Operators and still failed with the same error

Hi

If you are not able to add log on as batch job as it is greyed out because you need to add this from group policy manager and then add that user in log on as batch and then do gpupdate /force to ensure now it is shown on the Media server local policy once you update in Group policy of domain controller and that should help to resolve the issue
