Hi,
Recently we upgraded our backup server from 2010 to 2012. Everything is fine and the interface is cool. However, the backup performance have a big drop
we are using IBM 3573-TL with 1 LTO5 tape drive installed. When we still using 2010 the speed of local backup is around 4G/min, after upgraded to 2012
the speed dropped to 2.6G/min. The backup time from 2hrs increase to nearly 4hrs!! Is there any reason of it?
We are using Windows Server 2008R2 Standard with HP DL360G7, 4GB Ram, 8Gbe Fiber to connect the tape library
Please help!
Thanks!

you should first download and install the latest symantec drivers . After installing the drivers make sure you reboo the library and the media server , most of the time this helps in resolving the issue .

Hi,
did you perhaps restart your media server? BE 2012 would automatically install the latest drivers for the library, and I haven't seen anything new come out in terms or patches.
The other thing to try is to remove the library from Backup Exec 2012, and then delete from Device Manager (robotics and drive), shut down the server and library, and disconnect the library from the server. Once done, start up the server and let it boot into Windows. verify the library doesn't show up, shut the server down again, connect the library and start it up. Once it initialises, start up the server and run the Symantec driver installation again. Check the speeds after this.
Thanks!

You might want to check your buffer and block size settings. See the article below

Although the article is for 2010 and LTO4, the principle would still be the same in your case.

We have found a performance issue in the Checkpoint Restart.
Please disable the Checkpoint Restart in the Backup Options > Advanced Open File.

Thanks.
