Everyday my backup results shows the following exceptions:
(Server: "MYSERVER") (Job: "backup") The job completed successfully. However, the following conditions were encountered:
A snapshot operation required by this job was unsuccessful. Check the job log and the Windows Event Viewer for additional information.
and looking at the job history in Symantec Backup I have the following:
AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\MYSERVER\G:". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
V-79-10000-11217 - VSS Snapshot error. The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshot failed. Make sure that all provider services and tasks are running. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.
Is there a way to fix these exceptions?

If Win 2003, apply the VSS patch - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833167

What is the output of vssadmin list writers from the cmd ?
Also, is this a flat file backup ? If yes, is AOFO enabled and is Use Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider selected ?

it is a backup from server to external hard drives, not sure if AOFO enabled.
