Backup Exec 2014 - Byte Count is ZERO on successful Jobs from EMC VNX SAN

Hi,

Starting about a week ago, I noticed from the job logs that the byte count on successful jobs is zero most of the time. The job rate is also blank. Happens for FULL, Incremental, and differential. This is on all backup to disk jobs that are backing up directly from the SAN through NDMP.

However, when creating a restore, I do see from the backup sets that files and folders were succesfully backed up.

I suspect this is a problem with the recent OS upgrade done on the storage appliance, but I thought I'd ask as well if this is known in BE or if there is working patch to fix this.

If this post is lacking in detailed info, please do let me know. As always, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here are the specs:

EMC VNX OS=7.1.76.4

Backup Exec 2014 Service PAck1
Backup Exec ServerVersion 14.1 Rev 1786

Windows Server 2012

The internal information relating to TECH217414 seems to show that it will still affect BE 2014 SP1 and that that Symantec are under discussion with EMC directly about the problem.

Have a read of these

Backing up NDMP resources: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO12755

and this:

During backup or restore of EMC NAS Servers, IBM Filers, or NetApp Filer Systems, the file and directory count seen in the Activity Monitor or the job log / job history is displayed as 0: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH49301

EDIT: and the much newer EMC specific

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the quick reply. I can confirm that file history is enabled. I am looking into that other link that you posted.

Edit:

From the link that you gave, it says on the products catalog that it applies to BE 2012. I am running BE 2014 SP1. Can you please confirm?
