Backup Exec Install - Exchange

KBA
Not applicable

Can I installed Backup Exec on a Windows 2003 64Bit Server ?

If so - then I need to backup our Exchange 2010 Server which is on a 2008 R2 Box.

I cant see the agent install option on the License and Install Section ?

Is this configuration supported ?

Thanks

Only BE 2010 can backup Exchange 2010, so I presume that you are using that.  You can install BE on a Server 2003 64-bit server, but to backup Exchange 2010 you need to install BE on  Windows 2008 SP2 or Windows 2008 R2 x64 server with the Exchange 2010 Management tools installed on the media server.  See the SCL below

...the only other way around in your situation is to use Windows's built-in backup application to back up the IS to disk, and then BE to back up that flat-file.

We use that in a few instances, while we prep to upgrade the servers to Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. Not ideal, but in our case it works...for now!
