Is service pack 2 installed ?

Try to extract the patch manually and check if  .\PatchInfo.ini is accessible.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH129500

Hope this helps.

Service Pack 2 is Installed

The first step on that link just takes me to a search page

Step 1. Download the patch manually.
Download the latest hotfix executable:

32-bit Updates Folder Location:
\BE\WinNT\Install\BE32\Updates
Figured out the step 2, but I have to reinstall Backup Exec for it to install the hotfixes?

Step 3. Install Backup Exec.
After the bepatch.msp and PatchInfo.ini files are copied into the Updates folder, Backup Exec is ready to be installed and will contain the necessary hotfix after installation.
This can be confirmed in the Backup Exec UI by going to Help > About > Installed Updates, or by viewing installed updates through Programs and Defaults or Add/Remove Programs.

Is this a Server 2008 machine?

I had similar symptoms that were resolved by opening BE as Administrator.

Close out of BE.  On the desktop, Right-Click on the Backup Exec shortcut and select, "Run as Administrator"

Hope this helps.

Server 2003 Standard SP2

Tried to run BE as Admin and failed again.

Same problem on Win2008x64 SV, but only with HF 176937.

BE 2010 R3, SP2

I've tried to run as administrator, extract the patch (PatchInfo.ini seems to be OK).

Can I do something more?

...if you have an AV running, disable it and try the installation again.

Microsoft FEP real-time protection disabled and still no luck :( installation is almost complete and suddenly starts to rollback everything...

Uninstall the LiveUpdate through the Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (or Programs and Features) reboot the server and Try Reinstall LiveUpdate.

Download LUSETUP.exe from below link

https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=v57903068_EndUserProfile...

IF LiveUpdate fails with error - LU1805: LiveUpdate was unable to find any products to Update refer below link.

Currently I have installed LU 3.3. After reading this article: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH66265 I understand that I should download and install the same version (3.3, not 3.5)?

I uninstalled LU 3.3... will wait to reboot at the end of the day and then give this another shot.

Installed LU 3.3 again and ran the live updates.. They failed again.

Hi,

3. things to try here:

1. Open up BEutility and run the BEDB repair, just in case there is some sort of corruption that might be causing this.

2. Repair BE using Add/Remove Programs. Check if this resolves it.

3. Open up a command prompt, and type: beupdateops.exe  -optout. This will unregister BE with LU. Then type: beupdateops.exe -addBE. This will reregister BE with LU. Try running it again.

Thanks!

You may also try changing the path for patch download for Live upate :

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH87960 (When running LiveUpdate, any large updates fail to download and install)

Hope this helps.

@CraigV:

1. Is it safe for my DB?

2. I prefer try this one as the last option because I have installed BE on two host (Hyper-V failover cluster) and I don't want to mess something...

3. I have error: "Windows cannot find 'beupdateops.exe', Mare sure you typed name correctly..."

@Riyaj S:

It can't be this because I try to run already downloaded and extracted patch.

Hi,

1. Yes it is. It's simply a repair of the BEDB...it doesn't change anything in it, doesn't delete anything in it. I've done it plenty of times without an issue.

2. You shouldn't mess anything up; again, it's simply a repair of the installation. But don't do it if you don't feel comfortable.

3. Check the TN which will detail the specific switches you can use. Do a search for beupdateops.exe and you should find it, as it is installed by default.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH60721

Thanks!
