I am trying to complete a restore for a particular Exchange 2010 mailbox database and when I run the restore, it fails with "A failure occurred querying the Writer status."
What coule be causing this?
Backupexec 2010R3 on Windows Server 2008R2
Exchange 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2008R2

Is BE 2010 R3 fully patched up with atleast SP4 ?
Are you selecting both the DB and logs for restore or just the DB ?

As far as I know it is patched.
I have also selected the logs and the database to be restored. Please see attached screenshot:

What errors are logged in the event viewer of the Exchange server ?
Additionally, use this KB as well - https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH226235.html

There were two errors related to this:
Exchange VSS Writer failed restoring a backup with error code -2147221233 when saving the restore environment document 'T:\recovery\logs\_restoredLogs\E04restore.env'.
And:
Exchange VSS Writer failed with error code -2147221233 when processing the post-restore event.
If any databases were restored, they are likely in a dirty-shutdown state.
I ran "vssadmin list writers" in a command prompt and it did not show the MS EXchange Information Store VSS writer which (as I understand it) is required for the restore. I am going to restart the server tomorrow to try and get this to work. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do.
