Backup Exec - Update Tape Drivers?

Chris_the_Compu
Not applicable

Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 64-bit

Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R2 (Build 4164) 64-bit

Windows Device Manager shows Tape Drives:

Hewlett Packard LTO Ultrium-1 drive
Driver Provider: Hewlett Packard
Driver Date: 5/14/2009
Driver Version: 1.0.6.1

I have manually downloaded the latest DDI (March 15,2011) hotfix: 153090 and it appears to successfully install.  However, device manager still shows driver provider of HP.  How to I manually replace the HP drivers for the recommended Symantec drivers?

Hi,

Use the TAPEINST.EXE utility to install the drivers

Hope this helps...

If your tape drive is an old one, you should check the HCL (see below) to see whether it is still supported.

Btw, where do you check the tape driver version BE 2010 is using, compared to the version available?

Scrap that question, I was having a dull moment.
