Backup Exec V10

We are using Backup Exec V10 with a Quantum 320 tape unit. We run a Diff and Full backup job. Diff 5 days, full once a week. All tapes are set to Append to. The system has been running for 5 months without a problem. The Diff job was looking for a new tape and I received the following error. "Physical Volume Library media not found" This has never happened before. There are 5 tapes in the scratch media area, but the job can not find it. I have stoped all serveces and restarted and also turned the tape unit off and on with no luck. Anyone have any ideas???

Hi Ralph,

Thankyou for your query.

Would you please ensure, that you have installed the appropriate and the latest device drivers. By that we mean, that if your device is tested with B.E 10.0, you should install the latest Veritas drivers. If it has not been tested we recommend that you install the latest HP drivers for the device. Please make sure that the Removable Storage Service has been disabled and hence stopped.

Make sure the SCSI card firmware is uptodate, check for device issues in general.

Try a quick erase on any of the tapes, or try backing up to a brand new tape
