Would you please ensure, that you have installed the appropriate and the latest device drivers. By that we mean, that if your device is tested with B.E 10.0, you should install the latest Veritas drivers. If it has not been tested we recommend that you install the latest HP drivers for the device. Please make sure that the Removable Storage Service has been disabled and hence stopped.
Make sure the SCSI card firmware is uptodate, check for device issues in general.
Try a quick erase on any of the tapes, or try backing up to a brand new tape
