I am currently evaluating Backup Exec 12 for Windows Servers, but believe this may be "overkill" for my needs. I am curious if there is another (read "dumbed down") version of the software which may better suit my needs (and be an easier sell to management for purchase). The following outlines my environment/needs:
- small, private network
- no external connectivity (including internet)
- one NAS that stores approximately 700GB (this is all I need to back up) of compressed image files
- one Win 2003 domain controller
- approximately 12 client (Windows XP SP2) machines
I do not need disaster recovery protection, but merely need to do routine full and differential backups of the NAS on tape backup (full backup spans 3-4 tapes).
