Backup Exec, multiple differential backups onto the same tape??

Giles

At the present time I run a weekly full backup over the weekend on a remote site which has expanded to take 5 tapes from a potential 8 tape Autoloader
This leaves 3 spare tapes to do 4 Differential backups.
Is there any way of putting 2 or even 3 differential backups on to 1 tape?
Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated as I would like to reduce my visits to the remote site, back to once a week

Regards Giles

Quite easy to do

Go ahead and partition as Chicojr indicates, then  make sure the DIFF job is defined as "Append, Else Overwrite" and  point it at the DIFF partition.  remember when setting the OPP and APP periods that the APP never changes, but the OPP is reset each time the tape is opened

You can configure robotic library partition and then target jobs on specific partitions having one or more tapes.
This way you will always be sure that your jobs run on the intended tapes
How to partition and manage an autoloader (robotic library) using Backup Exec 8.x, 9.x, and 10.x(applies to 12 too)
