Backup and Restore Local User Profiles on a Terminal Server

I am needing to upgrade the hardware for one of my terminal servers and need to restore the local user profiles. Can this be done?

When domain users log-in to my aging windows 2000 terminal server (TS), the TS creates a profile for them. Just like your workstation created a profile for you.

I need to backup these profiles, over 200 and restore them to the new TS.

The problem is when I use NT backup it restores all of the profiles just fine but none of the permissions get restored. So when user Smith loggs into the new server it creates a new profile call smith.000 and smith losses every thing he save in his profile on the old server. That is the problem.

What is Desktops and Laptops option?
