Backup exec 12.5 using remote agent

Hi all

wondering if someone can shed some light on this issue.

When i'm trying to backup my local machine using backup exec 12.5 (All service pack's / updates installed)

it seems like its trying to use the remote agent to perform the backup.

It backs up all the other remote servers no bother (there are 2 others) but won't backup the local server at all unless i restart all the services on the server daily.

I've removed the software and reinstalled it, i've deleted and recreated the jobs etc etc but still exactly the same issue.

If it help's i can attach a couple of backup log's to show this.

Does anyone have any ideas on this.

Ever since v9.0, Backup Exec has used the "remote agent" for ALL disk access, including on the media server itself.

Check the event logs to see if you can figure out why the service is stopping

If all else fails you could create a CMD file that stops/starts the RemoteAgent service (or use the BESTOP and BESTART cmd files to completely stop/start) and use Windows Task Scheduler to run it shortly before the backups are due to start
