We are facing an issue with the backup exec services which is installed over Windows 2008 server. The following are the points related to this problem:
Problamatic point
- "backup exec device & media service" takes almost 30 min. to come up.
- other services dependent on "backup exec device & media service" never start automatically.
- once you try to start the service manually it takes more than 45 min to come up.
- After starting the services manually when we open the backup exec console, it just freezes and doesnt allow to do any sort of configuration.(configuration regarding creation of backup jobs etc.)
Environment:
- Operating System -->Installed over Windows 2008 Read only domain controller.
- Database -->Backup exec database installed on a SQL 2000 with SP4 on a different machine.(since RODC doesnt allow local installation of DB)
- Backup Software -->Backup exec 12d
- Backup Hardware -->DELL PV124T LTO3 Tape autoloader.
It is to be noted that the drivers for the Autoloader is already installed and detected by the operating system.
