Hello,

Currently, you cannot directly install Backup Exec using Local System
Account.
You first need to install Backup Exec using Administrator account and then
go to each of Backup Exec services properties and change the Log On
to 'Local System Account'.
We suggest you launch an enhancement request at:
http://enhancement.veritas.com
After submitting the request, please get in touch with your local Sales
representative to discuss this feature.

Thanks for the reply but is there any advantages or disadvantages of getting these services to start on local system account ? or dedicated backup exec account for that matter?

Hi,

If the Backup Exec services are designated to use the Local System account, then Backup Exec can only back up the System State of the server that Backup Exec is on. Backup Exec cannot, however, back up the System State of remote computers in the Active Directory environment.
