Backup exec followed symlink - backed up data twice

hello,

Backing up a redhat 8.0 with unix agent installed.

I have the following NFS export

/export

It's added to the exclude list in the agent.cfg file

i had a user create a symlink in the home directory as such

/home/user/export -> /export

This caused /export to get backed up twice. I also added /n in the exlude list in the job set up too.

Is there something I'm missing?

thanks

Hi,

By symlink do you mean "soft link"..?

Are you using the RALUS agent or the legacy Unix agent.?

Yes this is a soft link.
I'm using the legacy agent and tried the Ralus agent too.

One of the options on the job description should be

"Backup Data by following Links?"

If this is selected, deselect it.

Ken,
I believe you meant "Back up contents of soft-linked directories"

This was unchecked when I ran test jobs which still backed up twice.

"Back up files and directories by following junction points" is checked. I ran it with this option on/off with the same results.

Otherwise, the problem is gone after removing the symlink from the problem directory.

Hello,

- Did you uncheck the option "Back up contents of soft-linked directories"
from tools> options>linux unix.
