Backup failure (0x80042302)

"Schedule" backup failure with error (0x80042302).

If this job run "Manually", no problem encountered.

Please advice.

Checked "vssadmin list writers" no errors, but schedule backup still failure. same job run manually no problem.

Otherwise, I have a question about backup set.

If backup set expired, even tape not erased but files still not allow to restore ?

Did you check vssadmin list writers immediately after the scheduled backup failure ? If yes and if there are no errors, try recreating the backup job. Also, check if there is any other activity at that time which uses VSS.

And to your second query (Open a new thread for a new query. Helps not only you but others as well).

If the tape is marked as "Overwritable", but it still has not been used for any backups, then yes, data can be restored from it.
