Backup is not writing full information on the Tape

Question I have a Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 on a Windows 2000 Server. Now my problem is this I have a 40 GB Tapes and the Backup is only writing 20 GB to the tape, What is the issue with this? Thank you all for ready my post.

This is a 20/40 drive, right?

That means 20 GB uncompressed and 40 GB compressed at 2:1, which never happens. I generally figure about 1.3:1

As far as only 20GB per tape. Are you using HW or SW compression? If HW, from the devices tab, right click the drive and select properties, then tick "Enable Hardware Compression"
