A client of ours was backing up their Sharpoint 2007 environment without issue but recently that all changed.
Backup Exec (Version 12.0) was reporting the Tape drive as being offline which it wasn't
After a lot of searching I managed to isolate one SPS database as causing the the Job Engine service to crash and this was causing the system to report the tape drive as being offline.
The database is SSP_Search_DB1. I back it up by selecting it through the Sharepoint Portal Farms module in the selection list as it is grayed out (as expected) under the SQL module.
Anyone else experience anything like this? The rest of Sharepoint backs up fine.
