Backup of dual boot workstation

I have Backup Exec 10d running on a Windows Server 2003 server. We are adding a workstation that will dual boot Windows XP Pro and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. on two separate hard disk drives. At any given time the system may be running either O/S. We want to back up this computer. I assume that I need to buy the Linux agent. If I do, will Backup Exec back up the Windows disk when Linux is booted and vice versa?

Hello,

The machine that you are backing needs to be running at that time.

Thanks,

I guess I wasn't completely clear.

To clarify, I expect that the computer will be running except that it can only run 1 O/S at any given time and this could be either Linux or Windows. If it is, for example, running Linux at the time of a scheduled backup will the Linux agent on the computer also allow backup of the Windows NTFS disk and vice versa or will I have to boot Windows to get the Windows drive backed up?

Hello,

Yes to allow backup of the Windows NTFS disk you will have to boot to Windows to get the Windows drive backed up..

Thank You,
