Backup sharepoint 2003 with backup exec 11.d SP2

Hello,

I am using Backup Exec 11.d with service pack 2 installed. I want to backup an Windosws sharepoint 2003 environment (server farm).
The front end is on a windows 2003 server (32 bit). The databases are on a 64 bit windows 20003 server.
The databases were transferred from a SQL server 2000 environment to a SQL Server 2005 environment.
When trying to backup throught the sharepoint agent (server farm option), i get the following errors:

Failed to access Content DB (BRUSRV32\PRDSPPORTAL\Flits1_SITE)
Logon account: System Logon Account
The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed.

The account used has domain admin priviliges and works fine for all other backup ops, including through the SQL server agent.
The server Brusrv32 contains the DB's and is 64 bit.
The index DB on the front end server can be backupped OK.

Does anyone have suggestions what can be done to solve this problem?
Many thanks,

Luc Vandromme

Hello,

Today I installed HF's 32, 33 and 34 for Backup Exec 11.d 7170 SP2.
Doc explained that HF 34 resolves some issues concerning Exchange and Sharepoint.
Indeed it did.
Now I can Backup a server farm based on Sharepoint 2003, and a database server with SQL server 2005. No more problems with access rights, as i mentionned earlier.
I can even see detailed items such as documents in a document library, which was not possible before.

I installed HF 32, 33, and 34 for Backup Exec 11.d 7170 SP2.  But I am still getting the same Failed to access Content-DB 1 error.

We have Sharepoint 2007 installed on Windows Server 2003 box and our databases (SQL 2005) are on a Windows Server 2003 64bit box.

Anyone have any ideas?

Be sure that the account you're using to back up the Sharepoint databases has DB Owner role on all the databases.  The index database is a jet database with Sharepoint 2003 and would not have this problem.

Hi all,

Sorry to re-open this discussion but I'm having the same problem with my WSS 3.0 server farm (W2k3 32 bit SQL 2005 db server and W2k3 x64 WFE).

Having followed the advice in this thread I've installed the latest updates to 11.D SP2, ensured that our services account that the BE job is using has dbowner priviliages to each of the databases and yet the same problem remains:

"Failed to access ConfigurationV3-DB (SQL1\SharePoint_Config)
Logon account: domain\domain.services

The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem as Daryll with backing up our SharePoint farm.  It has worked fine for about the past month or so, and now all of a sudden it keeps failing with error:

"Failed to access ConfigurationV3-DB (SQL1\SharePoint_Config)

e00084af - The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed.

If I test the resource credentials, everything comes back Successful.  Anyone been able to come up with a solution to this?
