Backup to Disk - Restore? - Hundreds of Media files

Hello All -

We have Backup Exec 10.4 and had a tape vault failure about a month ago.  We temporarily replaced the vault with 2 USB drives.  I was able to create the B2D devices and backups have been successful.

Now we need to restore from the B2D and I just need to clarify what's going on and make sure I'm getting this right -

When I went to restore there was no media listed.  After a slight panic I began reading that I had to inventory and catalog the B2D media files.

There are over 300 BKF files on our 2 B2D devices.  Do I have to catalog every single file in order to the restore?  I have been running catalogs on these files since yesterday and they're still not finished. 

With the tapes are they catalog'd automatically?

It took 2 days to catalog all the files but it worked and I can do a restore from D2B.

How can I get the files to catalog automatically after a backup?

They should be automatically cataloged

Any entries in the Job Log or Event Viewer that may have any bearing?
