Backup-to-disk Creating multiple media sets

We have a daily backup job that uses a Backup-to-disk folder as the destination. BE creates the device according the paramaters provided and we have been able to get it to append to the device upto the file size specified, or if we change the media overwrite protection level, it will overwrite it each day.

What we want to do is have it create a different .bkf file for each day of the week, but I have yet to find a method to have it create a new .bkf media (one for each day) and have it rotate accordingly.

Can anyone advise how this can be done?

Hello,

By defaul, the backup to disk file is 1 GB in size. In order to know more about the backup to disk folder, you can refer to the admin manual, please go through the following pages:
pages: 149-166. The manual can be downloaded at:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/266190

Additionally refer to the following technote:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/272517

Hope it helps.Do write back if the question is unanswered. However if we do not receive your update within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.

Regards.

Thanks - I finally figured it out - or at least a way to do it, albeit a bit convulted.

1) Create an empty (0 byte) file, rename to xxxx.bkf for each day.
2) Import the files into the set.
3) Set overwrite protection for 6 days, (assuming one for each day of the week), turn off appending.

File size, etc as you mentioned set large enough for the day.
