Backups aren't working since we changed the password on our Windows server

We changed the password to our server, and the backups stopped working.  I didn't realize it until I got an email notification that the weekly backup had failed.

(Server: "SERVER2003") (Job: "Weekly Tape") Weekly Tape -- The job failed with the following error: Authentication failed on connection to the server. Make sure that the user account has the appropriate permissions and that the password was typed correctly.Looking at the system logs, I noticed that the daily backups also had been failing since we changed the password on our server.

Looking at previous forums, in the Backup Exec's Backup Exec Services I changed the service account information (password), restarted services.

When stopping and restarting services, I got the following:

Processing services

Stop services on server: SERVER2003
Stopping Backup Exec Agent Browser on SERVER2003.
The service Backup Exec Agent Browser has been stopped on SERVER2003.
Stopping Backup Exec Job Engine on SERVER2003.

Starting Backup Exec Agent Browser on SERVER2003.
The service Backup Exec Agent Browser has been started on SERVER2003.
Start services on server SERVER2003 completed.

Processing services completed!

When I go back in to the Backup Exec Services, it says the server has stopped.  When I tried to restart the backups, I get a different error:

An error occured while processing a B2D command.  Changer: Move Medium( ) Attempt to Lock Slot Failed (G:\Veritas\B2D\Folder.Ick). Error 3
On the Network Menu I went into Logon Accounts and changed the password there.     The backups are still not working.  I don't know much about this system, I am just needing to know what all I need to change when we change the server password to get the backups to work.  Any wisdom is appreciated!!!!!

Hi there,

Go into BEutility.exe, and under Media Servers, right-click the server name.
You can set the username/password there, and I would suggest doing a database repair. Once done, restart your services and try again.

Laters!

Craig,

Thanks for answering.  I tried to do what you suggested.  When I went under Media Servers, there are no server's listed there.  This is what I see:

Known Media Servers
   Media Server Groups
   All Media Servers

If I click on either Media Server Groups or All Media Servers, it says NONE to the right.

Not sure how much help this will be, but check out the link below:

It seems incorrect account used for remote agent. Go to services console on the server and change logon account for "Backup Exec remote agent... " to "Local system account" to resolve the issue.

Please mark this a solution, if this is useful.
Thanks
